Osteopathic Sports Massage

Traditional sports massage is used to help alleviate stress and tension which builds up in the body’s soft tissues during physical activity. Massage will help to reduce muscle tension and promote flexibility. Sports massage can help prevent those niggling injuries that so often get in the way of performance and achievement, whether a person is an athlete, a once a week jogger or just physically active. Once you have an injury, sports massage is not necessarily the right choice of treatment as it may help relieve symptoms whereas osteopathy will address the cause of the problem.

At Oakingtons, we offer an Osteopathic sports massage. Your treatment will be by a registered Osteopath with a sports massage qualification. Before treatment you will be given a diagnosis and prognosis, as you would expect from an Osteopath. We would then use a combination of techniques, both Osteopathic and more traditional massage techniques to provide you with a treatment that is unique to you and the symptoms you are having. Osteopaths work with fascia and the stretch receptors within your muscle tendons and at Oakingtons we believe we can be as effective with gentle techniques as some of the stronger techniques that are commonly used.
